Fire Recovery
We Need Your Help

Room in the Crisis Center Devastated by Fire

The Womens Coalition needs your help and support to rebuild and recover from the devastating fire at our crisis center/headquarters.

Thank You, St. Croix, for Joining Us To "Take Back The Night!"

Over 200 of you joined us to walk with your family and friends in support and in silence, bearing lights and wearing purple or t-shirts adorned with images and messages of love in honor of your lost loved ones. Thank you for gathering for our annual silent march and for showing your support for an end violence on our islands at our rally honoring victims who lost their lives to domestic violence over 30 years in the territory. Special thank you to our volunteer victim advocates, who continue to offer support to victims when they need it most, 24/7/365.

Volunteer

Many of our friends ask what they can do to help victims of violence. Don’t believe that just because you do not have training as a counselor we can’t use your help.

You can volunteer, become an advocate, make a product or services donation to fulfill our wish lists, become a member, designate the WCSC as a recipient of your United Way donation, have your business become a sponsor of one of our many fund-raising activities…There are so many ways you can help — just contact our office/crisis center.

We are proud of the fact that since 1981 we have been able to provide crisis intervention and counseling for victims 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We need your help in order to continue. Whatever you can give, whether it be a couple of hours of your time or a few dollars, will help us continue our success. We are here for you, our community. Please help us make a difference.

Volunteer

You can volunteer to help with a number of fund-raising activities, work as an office assistant at our crisis center, become an advocate, write our newsletter for us, write grants, volunteer at our shelter, serve on a committee, or offer to transport victims to court or other agencies. We can always use your help.

Advocate

You don’t have to have training as a counselor to help. We offer a training program for volunteer advocates for all victims of crimes. Our advocates provide support at a time when victims may feel at a loss in dealing with and understanding our criminal justice system. The presence of the WCSC volunteer advocate reassures the victims that there are people who care.

WCSC volunteer advocates are trained in crisis intervention skills, must complete an apprenticeship period and meet specific criteria before becoming a certified advocate. Due to the public transportation constraints on St. Croix, we require WCSC advocates to have their own transportation. Please contact our office/crisis center for more information on how you can become a volunteer advocate.
